Kate Winslet
(Rose) Kate Winslet, you’ve seen the face, perhaps you’ve heard the name, now find out who she is. Most of Kate’s fans “met” her in “Titanic”, including myself. It’s weird for many fans to think of Kate as anyone but Rose, but she isn’t Rose and she did in fact act before Titanic. *
Kate, born on October 5, 1975, in Reading, England, was born into a theatrical family. Her parents are Roger and Sally Winslet. She has two sisters, Anna and Beth, and one brother, Joss.  Her father and her sisters are all actors. Her brother is an aspiring actor.

When Kate was 11 years old, she attended Redroofs Theatre School in Maidenhead, England. Her first job was dancing with the Honey Monster in a commercial for Sugar Puffs cereal. In 1988, she appeared in her first TV show, a British series called “Shrinks”. From 1989 to 1992, Kate starred in various TV shows including “Casualty”, “Dark Season”, and “Get Back”. In 1994, Kate landed the role of Juliet Hulme in “Heavenly Creatures” as her film debut. She played the role of Princess Sarah in 1995’s “A Kid in King Arthur’s Court” and then, in 1996, played Marianne Dashwood in Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility”. In 1996, Kate took on two roles: Sue Bridehead in “Jude” and Ophelia in “Hamlet”. Then, released on December 19, 1997, Kate played Rose in James Cameron’s “Titanic”. “Titanic” made Kate Winslet a household name.
People who’ve never heard of her are now renting the rest of her movies and awaiting the movies she has yet to come.
Often called Combat Kate, because of her choice in boots, Kate stands 5’8” and weighs around 125lbs. Many people say that Kate should be thinner, however, I think she looks just fine. Too many of our Hollywood stars strive to be thin, too thin. Kate has a nice figure, not big and not small. She is proof that you don’t have to be thin to be good.
Kate has been nominated for 2 Oscars (“Sense and Sensibility” and “Titanic”). *

* For those of you die hard Kate fans, you’ll be glad to know she has four films coming out, including: “Hideous Kinky”, “Plunge”, “Johnny Hit and Run Pauline” and “Holy Smoke”.
Kate, nicknamed English Rose, has become my favorite actress. She is a wonderful, beautiful, young actress with many years of success in front of her.
